We seek to enhance nature conservation efforts, preserve biodiversity and increase vegetation cover and green spaces in the Sultanate, and our first goal will be to preserve and multiply Omani trees and plants to contribute to ensuring air quality and public health and limiting climate change, in order to Effective and balanced ecosystems with renewable resources and sustainable elements in support of the national economy.

About Us

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs (formerly) and the Environment Agency (currently) have launched the “Ashjar Initiative” in order to combat desertification, reduce land degradation, and preserve wild plants through their multiplication and expansion of their cultivation, due to their environmental, economic and cultural importance, as they are considered the main source of natural resources. Within the framework of cooperation between the Environment Agency and the private sector represented by the Petroleum Development Oman, the national initiative to plant 10 million trees came.It was inaugurated on the Omani Environment Day, January 8, 2020.
